YCBC Winter Swim Extravaganza 2018

Six Scarborough swimmers headed out to Leeds , for the Winter Open Short Course gala, being held in the John Charles Aquatic Centre at Leeds.

12yr Joseph Moment opened the weekend with a powerful Gold Medal in his 200m Freestyle, he then added 5 more Golds medals, in 50m Backstroke , 200m Backstroke , 200m IM, 100m Backstroke and 400m Freestyle with a Silver in his 100m Freestyle. A successful weekend of swimming seeing him earn an impressive 9 Qualifying Spring Yorkshire times. Older Brother Samuel joined him in the medal winning, with a Bronze for his 200m Breaststroke in his Spring Yorkshire qualifying time of 2.53.60 , to add to a pleasing PB Yorkshire time in his 100m Breaststroke and 4th place finish.

For the girls, 12yr Alexandra Beeson led the way with a Gold Medal in her 100m Breaststroke, in a new PB of 1.28.06. Sprinting out two powerful Spring Yorkshire times for her 50m Butterfly and 50m Backstroke, she added a Silver medal and Bronze medal respectively to her collection. Maisy Smith , 13 , attempted her first 400m Freestyle event, a challenging race which saw her earn a time of 5.27.06. Emily Kelly 13yr, took on the 200m Breaststroke and 200m Freestyle and her sister Megan Kelly also 13, sprinting out pleasing 100m freestyle and 50m Backstroke races.
