Sponsored Swim Fundraising Event
Scarborough Swimming Club’s Learn to Swim youngsters took to the water to raise vital funds in order to keep providing free swimming lessons for primary aged children. They took part in a Sponsored swim – organised by the parents fundraising team - where children swam as many lengths as they could within 45 minutes. The children were also assessed during the event and many children as young as five received their 25 metre badge.
Parent Kim Fowler whose daughter took part in the even said – “It is an absolute credit to the Scarborough Swim Club teachers for such a fantastic event.– Before joining the club my daughter could only swim with arm bands and after only 5 lessons with the club she achieved her 25 metre badge. Watching from the side lines was emotional – not just for my daughters achievement but for the successes of all the other children who took part.”
The money raised will be used to help continue covering the cost of the pool hire and lifeguard weekly . The free lessons are delivered by volunteers of the club who dedicate their time to ensure children can learn to swim with expert tuition without any cost.
