Scarborough Swimming Club Triathletes show off their talent
Congratulations to 4 of Scarborough Swimming Club’s Elite Triathletes , who represented Yorkshire & Humberside, at the British Triathlon Assessment this weekend at Loughborough.
The Assessment is the pre-requisite for youth and junior athletes’ qualification for the British Triathlon Super Series, a series of National Triathlon events. The event includes a swim time trial on the Saturday at the world-class facilities at Loughborough University, followed by a combined bike/run on the Sunday at Prestwold Motor Circuit.
The event saw a total of 300 athletes from England and Wales compete at youth and junior level. Currently, five of the 15 athletes who are part of the prestigious Yorkshire & Humberside Triathlon Academy regularly train with SSC. Club members Finnian Hutchinson and Harry Butterworth, and Martha Calton-Seal competed in the youth men and women races respectively. Maurice Calton-Seal competed in the junior men’s race. After the time trial swim, Hutchinson and Butterworth were ranked 17th and 49th respectively, with Martha Calton-Seal and her brother ranked 47th and 57th. Day two saw a very significant improvement in the rankings for all four athletes with incredibly strong performances in the bike and run legs. Hutchinson finishing 9th, Butterworth close behind in 17th. Martha and Maurice finishing 11th and 28th. This will almost certainly guarantee all four eligibility to represent Yorkshire & Humberside in the British Triathlon Superseries. The first event being in Llanethli next month.
