SaDSA Friendly Gala - 29th February 2020

Congratulations to all the swimmers competing in the SaDSA Friendly gala at Driffield. For over half the team of 34 swimmers, aged between 8 and 13 years, many who have come through Scarborough Swimming Clubs learn to swim program, this was their first competitive team gala. With a cheerful, enthusiastic atmosphere poolside, there were numerous impressive swims from all the team and lots of encouragement from their team mates and the family and friends who had come along to support them. Proud Coaches Sarah Harvey, Mike Draper and Luke Kelly were pleased to see the skills and techniques that had been developed in training, being put to the test under pressure with pleasing results and growing confidence. The Winning 6 x 25m mixed Cannon Freestyle team of Charlie, Chloe, James, Katie, Tom and Holly finished the gala on a high note to loud cheers from their team mates.

Team Coach Sarah Harvey would like to thank Mike Draper for judging, the poolside helpers, timekeepers and marshals Lindsey Prior-Mckie, Sally Nolan, Sally Atkinson and Emily Kelly and everyone who gives up their time to support the swimmers and make these galas possible.

Team Manager Luke Kelly said “A huge congratulations to our friendly gala swimmers! Some really gutsy swims and smiley faces which is wonderful to see. We came a comfortable 3rd place with 93 points!”
