North East Regional Short Course Championships 2018

Scarborough swimmers Joseph Moment, Sam Moment, Atlanta Dowkes, Owen Hobkinson and Amy Corcoran (entered via her pathway club KingstonHull) competed in the Swim England North East Regional Winter Championships, at Pond’s Forge International Pool in Sheffield over the weekend of the 3rd and 4th of November 2018. They were joined there by Whitby pathway swimmers Henry Cornforth and Ben Wilkinson. Regional qualification is a significant achievement. For some it has been a long standing goal. For others it was again a chance to pit their abilities against the best in the region and, due to the North East’s strength in the sport, some of the best in Great Britain. The swimmers were pleased to earn numerous Personal Best times in this prestigious mid season event , during a heavy winter training program, with swimmers aged 14 & over competing in the Open Age category. A total of 14 top ten finishes were earned between them. 12yr Henry Cornforth bringing home age group Silver and Bronze Medals for his 100m & 50m Freestyle events, in times of 1.00.27 and 27.98 and a Bronze Medal in 50m Butterfly in a time of 30.08 Swimmers’ results can be found at http://asaner.org.uk/swim-england-north-east-region-short-…/

Qualification for the event was made possible by their hard work , commitment to training and talent. It also represents the commitment and dedication of coaches and parents over many years. On behalf of the swimmers and parents thank you to all at SSC for your support.
