National Success for Scarborough’s Amy Corcoran.

Updated: Feb 9, 2020

Scarborough based National swimmer, 16yr old Amy Corcoran had a busy month during December. She headed to The Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh from the 7th to the 9th December, for the Scottish Short Course Championships. Scotlands largest Open meet is a chance for swimmers to showcase their short course talent. The top eight fastest swimmers from the heats qualify for the A finals and the next eight qualify for the B finals. Entering in six events, Amy earned herself three top 16 heat finishes. Her best result coming from her 200m Butterfly where she knocked an impressive 4 secs off her heat times to win the B final and finsh in 9th place overall. Amy then headed to the British Winter National Short Course Championships , held at Ponds Forge International Pool in Sheffield, from the 14th to the 16th December. Having now moved into the Open age catagory, the qualifying times become suitably challenging, to attract the top swimmers in the Britian. Amy had qualified in her specialty event the 400IM and a determined swim saw her finish in 31st overall with a time of 4.56.97.
