Middle East Open & Junior Championship 2020

The Middle East Open & Junior Championship attract swimmers from all over the world, offering a comprehensive programme and finals. This competition has age group finals for all 50m and 100m events, open finals for 200m events, with the fastest heats for the 400m events also being held in the finals sessions. It is held over 3 days with a morning session for heats (Open Championships), an afternoon session for Junior Championships and an evening session for finals (Open Championships) each day.
Congratulations to Scarborough’s Amy Corcoran, who was selected as part of the 100 strong Swim England Junior Talent Squad, to represent Team England in this prestigious competition and part of a ten day training camp. Her early morning training with Scarborough Swimming Club paid off with a 4 hour ahead time difference, Amy powered out her first event of 400m Freestyle, to earn a new personal best time and 11th place overall, following it up over the next 3 days of competition going through to the finals sessions in all six of her events and helping Team England to be crowned Top Team overall!
Amys remaining time in Dubai will be spent training with the Swim England Junior Talent team in preparation for the British Swimming Championships , held from 14th -19th April in London. These Championships will also act as the selection event for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, as well as the European Senior and Junior Championship teams.
